Congratulations to the Class of 2024 and One Special Graduate

Does it seem like everywhere you turn, bad news rules the day?

Ever feel like you can’t take seeing one more story about a shooting, tragic accident or Internet battle?

When you need to clear your head and remember that there is much more good than bad in the world, visit Michelet Strategic Communications “BR Bright Spot” for a smile, happy tears or some much-needed peace of mind. These posts will be a mix of personal news, client impact and pure gold from the Internet (with credit of course!).

The first one is very personal. As someone who had a high school graduate in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I’ve seen the struggles of young adults who were deprived of a well-deserved celebration after years of hard work in school and a freshman year made memorable by fear, masking and the isolation of virtual classes rather than the adventure and camaraderie that usually marks the first year of college. All of that made the Class of 2024 college graduation that much more special for the families cheering on the impressive accomplishments of this resilient class of students.

In our house, we also celebrated a group of LSU ROTC students who regularly woke up at 4-something in the morning for sometimes brutal physical activities including walking/running 12 miles with 30+pound rucksacks on their backs in the Louisiana heat, spent weekends training in the woods and adhered to a strict code of conduct. For these truly amazing students, graduation also included a patriotic ceremony where they officially began their careers serving their country in the Army, Air Force, Navy or Marines.

When you hear someone lament the state of the emerging generations of today, remember there are thousands of new graduates just like these willingly taking on the challenge of military service despite the uncertainty and strife in the world today.

So, here is a heartfelt thanks to all newly commissioned officers in the Class of 2024 including our own 2nd Lieutenant Jessica Blair Michelet!
